Jesse: "Obama's talking down to black people."

Faux News is running a captured/live comment by Jesse Jackson, headlining it as "Breaking News," where Jackson makes a statement, on-screen, whispering under his breath to another (unidentified) person prior to going on-camera: "Obama's talking down to black people. I want to cut his nuts off."

Apparently, shortly thereafter, Jesse Jackson issued a statement apologizing for his "crude and hurtful comments."

I'm sure this will be all over the news if it hasn't made it to the top of DKos yet.

UPDATE:

Looks like it's running at the top of MSNBC now.

BREAKING NEWS

NBC News and news services

updated 8:18 p.m. ET July 9, 2008

CHICAGO - The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for "regretfully crude" comments he made about Barack Obama's speeches in black churches, during what he thought was a private conversation.

Fox News broadcast Jackson’s remarks on "The O’Reilly Factor" Wednesday night. Jackson, speaking to Reid Tuckson, an executive vice president at United Health Group, as both men were about to be interviewed on "Fox & Friends" on Sunday, criticized Obama's faith-based campaign policy and said, "I wanna cut his n--- off."

"He's talking down to black people," Jackson told Tuckson.

He was warmly received by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him "a leader that God has blessed us with at this time."

Yes, not a moment to be proud of. (none / 0)

This is going to hurt a little bit...but, this too shall pass.

I'm sure Jackson's brand will suffer much more because of this moreso than anything else.

Just plain stupid shit. But, the Fox fucks will have a field day with it, I'm sure.

Actually..... (2.00 / 2)

In a weird way, this actually might help Obama...  for reasons of his own making, people think Jackson is a bit a a fringe lunatic.  By speaking out against Obama, albeit not publicly, Jackson has just distanced himself from Obama... making Obama look less "scary"...

It's a weird world we live in...

McCain/Palin... even scarier than Bush/Cheney... and that's saying something!

leave it to fox (2.00 / 1)

Hmm. Seems like a talking point to me. Lately I have noticed the MSM trying to show weaknessess in the AA vote for Obama.

blah. (2.00 / 1)

BC and JJ had an almost identical spat in 1992, although I don't recall castration entering into the picture.

Bad timing though - we're all waiting to push the "Social Security is a disgrace" comment and now this is going to fill up the media's attention.

Re: blah. (2.00 / 3)

Why would the news media report actual news when there's the chance to show video of Jesse Jackson putting his foot in his mouth?

Come to think of it, what made you think they were going to report actual news anyway?  Isn't there a missing white woman somewhere we should all be concerned about?

Too bad Nancy (dis)Grace isn't missing... (2.00 / 1)

...from Fox...

Damn...talk about trash television! What a waste of airtime she is. Her indignation-du-jour(s) are pathetic. Reminds me of Dobbs on CNN a bit, with all the posturing and bloviating...but, at least Dobbs does political stuff and tends to stay away from the crime and gossip rags...

pa-freakin'-thetic....

Don't feel bad Jesse.

This is a very subtle, but important point you make, catfish2.  I think you should post it as a diary.

When I read the title of the diary, I thought it referred to Jesse Helms!

Re: Jesse: "Obama's talking... (none / 0)

If I were Sen. Obama, I'd turn Jesse Jackson's comments into a commercial in heavily white states. Why? White America has long viewed Jackson as a left-wing radical.

Hence, the thinking goes, if he's criticizing Obama for his sensible Father's Day comments, then Obama must not be a left-wing radical.

Thanks, Jesse, whether you meant to be helpful or not.

It's really the two statements together (none / 0)

that are so incongruous.

And this is MORE proof that Fox Sucks. They let him go on air and finish the show, never telling him they had his ass in a sling.

Never. Go. On. Fox.

Never.
